Voyager Coffee – Local, Ethical, and Roasted on the Edge of Dartmoor

At Porridge, we take pride in serving coffee that not only tastes great but is produced with care and purpose. That’s why we partner with Voyager Coffee, a Devon-based specialty coffee roastery located just outside the Dartmoor National Park.

We serve their Native blend in our café in Brixham and stock Voyager’s beans and ground coffee in-store for you to take home and enjoy.

What We Serve IN OUR CAFE IN BRIXHAM – The Native Blend

Voyager’s Native blend (also known as Coast to Coast) is designed to be smooth, sweet and satisfying – with flavour notes of praline, caramel and chocolate, and a low acidity for those who like a consistently balanced, easy-drinking cup.

It’s made using seasonally sourced coffees from Brazil, Guatemala, and Peru, with the flavour profile carefully maintained across harvests. A key component comes from Fazenda do Salto in Brazil – a family-run farm whose coffee brings signature praline notes to the blend. Voyager’s team regularly visit producers to deepen their connection to origin and ensure quality from crop to cup.

Native is roasted with precision to bring out full flavour without bitterness, making it ideal for both espresso and cafetières – whether you enjoy it black or with milk.

What Makes Voyager COFFEE Different?

Traceable, Ethically Sourced Coffee 🌿

Rather than sourcing directly from every farm themselves, Voyager partners with trusted importers who have boots-on-the-ground support for small farms. This allows them to maintain full traceability and support more ethical practices – like paying harvest workers fairly, even for lower-yield but higher-quality crops.

Support for Small Farms 🌱

Voyager celebrates the passion and care that small-scale producers put into their coffee. Their sourcing model allows for experimentation, sustainability, and showcasing the natural variety of coffee from farm to cup.

Seasonal Blends with Consistency 🎯

Their blends, including Native, evolve seasonally to preserve flavour. This means your favourite brew stays consistent, even though the beans may change.

A Leader in Sustainable Packaging

Voyager made waves in 2018 by launching 100% compostable packaging – years before many others in the industry. Their coffee bags are made entirely from plant-based materials, designed to preserve freshness and then compost cleanly once used, improving soil health.

Even their labels, boxes, and tape are compostable or recyclable. They continue to trial and iterate their packaging to improve durability and speed up composting in all environments.

  • Circular approach – from bag to bin to soil ♻️
  • All packaging made from plants 📦
  • Low-energy, low-impact production 🌍

Voyager even composts used coffee bags collected from their café and wholesale partners at their Dartmoor roastery – creating a closed-loop solution for packaging in the coffee industry.

Why We Choose Voyager at Porridge

At Porridge, we’re proud to support Voyager Coffee because their values align so closely with our own. Their coffee is roasted less than 20 miles away from us in Buckfastleigh, Devon, using small-batch methods that ensure freshness and quality. We love that we can serve their Native blend in our café in Brixham and also offer it for customers to enjoy at home. Their fully compostable packaging means customers can make more sustainable choices without compromising on flavour or freshness.

With transparent sourcing, a commitment to ethical trade, and a deep respect for the people behind each bean, Voyager brings a real sense of connection between grower, roaster, and cup – and that’s exactly the kind of coffee we want to share with our community.
